Spun bonded filter cartridges have historically given filtration problems with premature blockage and the stripping of pigment from mica and metallic topcoat paints. Bag filters provide others ‘problems’ due to a lack of available filter surface area and by being only a surface filter (ie. a bag filter has no depth to the media). Both factors result in premature blocking and an increase in the possibility of deformable particulate extrusion. Rigid metal type filters also have very limited surface area, require regular cleaning and have a tendency to get damaged easily. Such metal filters are also very expensive to purchase.
